Do you ever harken back to the good old days of the 80's? You know, when melodic rock such as Rainbow, Rough Cutt and Bon Jovi ruled the airwaves and MTV? Well heres your cure..... Heaven & Earth. H & E is the brainchild of unsung guitarist Stuart Smith. A Taste Of Heaven is a 8 song EP featuring some great vocalists. First up is Paul Shortino of Rough Cutt/Quiet Riot fame. I've always liked Pauls voice and have always thought his vocals on Rough Cutt's cover of A Little Piece of My Heart were fantastic. Nasty Piece Of Work and It'd Be True are two standout tracks here. Track number six features Bon Jovi's Ritchie Sambora in the lead vocal spot. When A Blind Man Cries is a great example blues based hard rock. It is my favorite song on the EP.In fact Ritchies vocals are so good I'd like to see him do a whole solo album of material just like this song. Joe Lynn Turner (Rainbow/Deep Purple) steps up to the mic for the track Heaven & Earth. It reminds me a lot of what Joe would have done with Rainbow. Speaking of which, Guitarist Stuart Smith's palying has a very Ritchie Blackmore feel to it. Last up on the disk is See That My Grave Is Kept Clean with Mr. Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple/Black Sabbath) in the spotlight vocally. It's another great blues/rock tune. Heaven & Earth is a great melodic blues/rock band that is a great cure for the teen pop/ cookie monster metal
crap that rules the airwaves these days. Let's hope that this isn't the last that we hear from this great band.
